Human Rights PolicyHuman Rights Policy Policy statement Stirling EVP Ltd respects all fundamental human rights and will be guided in the conduct of its business by the provisions of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UNUDHR) and the International Labour Organisation (ILO) core labour standards. Purpose The purpose of this policy is to set out the fundamental principles on Human Rights, which Stirling EVP Ltd will support and be guided by in the conduct of its business. Scope This policy applies to all employees of Stirling EVP Ltd. Further, it will seek to deal with business partners who also observe the provisions of the UNUDHR and ILO core labour standards. Underlying philosophy In a world of sometimes differing views this policy is a statement of "how we do things around here". This policy is one of the ways in which we live our core values of integrity, progressiveness, performance and teamwork. Supporting the basic principles of the UNUDHR and the ILO core labour standards are important for a company which seeks to conduct its business in a socially responsible manner. Corporate objectives To ensure that all business units manage and conduct their business in line with fundamental human rights principles and, within the scope of the company's influence, to encourage its business partners to do the same. Corporate principles and practice All business units will determine how the principles of the UNUDHR and ILO core labour standards impact on their operations, will inform the managing director of material issues concerning human rights and will report on performance against this policy annually. Responsibilities The managing director is the main sponsor of the policy. The managing director will monitor and adhere to this policy, will be responsible for its discharge and will provide guidance to all business units. Policy guidance Stirling EVP Ltd respects all fundamental principles on human rights, both in the conduct of its own business and through its business partners. Human Rights policies in business are at a very early stage of development. They will however continue to develop as time goes by. At Stirling EVP Ltd we continue to monitor and align our policy according to internationally recognised human rights principles. We are guided by the provisions of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UNUDHR) and the International Labour Organisation (ILO) core labour principles. Some of the principles of the UNUDHR and ILO are of more relevance to a business like Stirling EVP Ltd than the others, as they cover issues over which we have more influence. For example, Stirling EVP Ltd has responsibilities as an employer and therefore business units should ensure that in setting employment conditions they are guided by the provisions within both the UNUDHR and the ILO core labour standards. |
