• Split Charge Module. • 4 Tone Siren Amplifier. • 6 Channel Multi Pattern Flasher. • 12 Way Relay Pack. The Stirling SLC12APF is designed to eliminate the need to install engine run-lock units including the facilities offered by SLC12RL this unit replaces the runlock module with Stirling's Split Charge Controller while including many features from SLC12RL.
Run-locks can be difficult to install in many new vehicles and SLC12APF provides the intelligent Split Charge Controller (SCC) unit required to connect an Auxiliary Battery (AB) to power the vehicles emergency warning equipment system while on the incident scene.
When LED lightbars and lamps are installed, the power consumption is reduced and a modest sized battery can provide several hours operation at the scene.
The Split Charge Controller ensures that the Auxiliary Battery is charged by the vehicle alternator under normal (and pursuit) operating conditions. On arrival at an incident the SCC automatically isolates the AB from the vehicles main battery and alternator when the ignition is switched off. After the engine is restarted the SCC automatically reconnects the AB once the main battery voltage has reached a preset level.
Standard "One Touch" 999 and ARRIVAL functions are included that can operate multiple relays simultaneously, internal DIL switches enable user selection of which relays are operated allowing the relay pack to be used in any configuration to match your particular application. For example "999" may be programmed to control designated lights and siren, whilst pressing "999" again will return the unit to normal operating condition. On reaching the scene operation of "ARRIVAL" will cancel "999" and set designated lights for fend off. Each relay output is provided with an independent, short circuit protected, Data Recorder output allowing full monitoring capabilities. Designed with versatility as a priority, SLC12APF can be controlled by a range of Stirling switch panels, alternatively the relay outputs can be operated via the 12 way control inputs by third party switch panels or relay interfaces*.
The integrated Stirling HLFM6 six channel headlamp flasher offers a choice of user selectable patterns, and operating modes. There are 3 independent pairs of channels, each controlled by a separate control line and programming switches. While the main pair of channels are used for headlamps the remaining 2 pairs can be used for front fog, rear red or other lamps. The use of solid state switches in this unit simplifies installation and operation by eliminating the necessity of extra external diode bridges in most applications. The 3 selectable patterns, simultaneous, alternating or multi-flash, can be applied independently so any pattern can be applied to any pair of channels, e.g. front headlamps can be set to multi-flash and the remaining channels can be set to alternate mode. An inhibit input is provided to disable the headlamp channels when required. The unit is fully protected against short circuit and over-heating.
SLC12APF is completed by the SS2H4 siren amplifier, internal DIL switches provide selection of any combination of 2 or 3 tone operation and sequence. Additional features of Data Recorder output, Radio Transmit Mute and Air Horn over-ride are included as standard. The PA Kit provides an alternative siren control facility that can be used by the observer to operate the siren, the PA mode will override the siren to make voice announcements. *Contact Stirling EVP for advice on compatibility of your own or existing switch panels.
